Sweet Pea is an adult iguana, but had been treated poorly before her new home. They love her and care for with all their heart. As you can Sweet Peas back has been broken several times and all of her toes. She gets around very well, she has no use of her back legs or tail. She uses her front legs to get around. Her ability to survive from near death is a miracle.
Every year Sweetpea has eggs (there is no male present)! She is potty trained and loves chasing the poodle around the house. She sleeps and cuddles with the cat. Sweet Pea gets around very well and seems to have no limitations. One of our most unique iguana's. She has grown to love all the animals and humans in her home. Sweetpea is a very special iguana she teaches us that no matter what the handicap or physical challenge you can live a long healthy life!
Sweetpea has survived great odds and this is what we do!

SYDNEY WHEN SHE ARRIVED
FOR REHAB
Basic Facts Sydney came to us for a supposed short period of time. The time was 90 days, after 6 months she was considered abandoned since the owner would not come and pick her up. We gave the owner and additional 4 months to come and get her, but always no call-no show. My owner had done what she felt best for me and that was leave with these loving people. I will always be thankful to my owner for she gave me a chance to live happily. We recieved a call from Mineral Wells Junior High and they asked what animals needed good homes, we included a description of Sydney. They said they would love to adopt her. She loves her new home and is doing great. Sydney will now live for many more years thanks to the students and staff at Minneral Wells Junior High My Life Before Mineral Wells I used to live at another home. I was not happy! I stayed there 8 years. My diet consisted of baby food (turkey sticks, chicken sticks) baby vegetables and fruits. Occasionally I got lettuce. I was left in a room 24/7 all by myself. The only time I saw someone was at feeding time. I had done nothing wrong but was alone. Every now and then I got played with and given attention but not very often. I was nothing but skin and bones from a bad diet. My cage was too small and I rarely got to swim. My diet started to improve and I started getting fresh vegetables and greens. My owner was talking to someone on how to take of me and my life was improving. But then something happened and my owner was not able to care for me for awhile so she brought me to a special place. My owner cried when she left me there deep down she really loved me but never knew the proper care for me, and just as she was learning this problem arose. I was kept in quarantine for a short period of time amd recieved all kinds of good food but there was a problem. Due to my poor diet my stomache had a very hard time adjusting and it would try to come back up. The persons caring for me would pick me up and massage me and help me digest. I still eat alot since body processes it diferently. Slowly I began to gain weight and feel better. I never felt alone there was someone around 24/7. I never got lonely and was handled and allowed to roam freely under supervision. This took some time to master but I did it. I was very, very happy and healthy. Then one day I was packaged up and had a long ride. When I arrived I was placed in this huge cage with branches, trees, swimming pool and all kinds of things, very similiar to what I would have been in if left or raised in the wild. I love my new home---I am special, I survived and I have always been and still am trulely loved. LOUIE He is one of the lucky ones too. He was very ill and we helped his owner over the web to make him healthy. Louie is growing now by leaps and bounds

This is what happens when you use really hot heat rocks and do not check your iguana.
This could have been prevented if cared for properly
